The new breeding station enables Rijk Zwaan to select varieties under tropical circumstances. The station comprises 16 hectares and includes demo tunnels for tomato, pepper and cucumber as well as a net house for several crops. The breeding trials for tomato and cucumber take place in tunnels as well as in the open field.

Especially for the opening ceremony an open field demo was created with, amongst other crops, lettuce, melon, red beet and gherkin. The event was attended by Rijk Zwaan distributors in India, customers, the Dutch ambassador in India and several government officials from India.
